Over the last month, few members of the 2024 NFL draft class have been as closely tied to the Denver Broncos as Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, who many are pointing to as, ‘Sean Payton’s answer’ for the Mile High City’s quarterback void.
Playing in Denver, under the tutelage of their legendary head coach is an idea that Nix is a big fan of.
“I think that’d be a blast playing for a coach like that who’s been so important for the game, so important for the offensive game, and has made such an impact on the game in general and with the quarterbacks he coached,” Nix said, during an appearance on Robert Griffin III’s podcast, ‘RG3 and The Ones‘.
Bo Nix has been connected to the Denver Broncos so frequently, in part, because some have compared his play style to that of Drew Brees — the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback that Coach Payton, of course, had so much success with.
Nix was quick to downplay those lofty comparisons during his interview with Griffin, though.
“When someone compares me to Drew Brees, it’s like I mean come on. What are we doing,” Nix remarked. “That’s one of the greats out there. I’ll take it. Yeah, if you want to compare me to Drew Brees. Now, I got a lot to do and a lot to learn, a lot to play for. But that comparison is very respectful.”
With the draft quickly approaching, Broncos Country is just a few short weeks from discovering whether or not Sean Payton sees shades of Drew Brees in Nix’s game.
